Real Camera, a Warning and a Spider

The camera on my phone has decided it really doesn't like to work (as you might have noticed due to the quality of the morning pictures going downhill at a very steady pace) so I've brought of the big guns.  Low and behold the pics look soooo much better!  Silly phone!

Talking at rest time ended the on going streak of all green stars yesterday.  Mia was so upset.  Lesson learned.  On a much happier note she scored 6/10 on her sight words - the 4 missed were ones they haven't worked on yet - so go figure.  She's doing phenomenally in school and obviously loving every part of it... well, except for the part where she has to get up while it's still dark.

Today is PINK OUT DAY at school for Breast Cancer Awareness and also Show and Tell for the color Black.  as you can see Mia decided to take her remote control spider as show and tell.  There are no batteries in it and I had her leave the control at home - less likely to freak people out that way... hopefully.   (She was being a spider in the picture.)

We are having someone over for dinner and board games tonight!!!!!  I'm so excited!  It will be my third time hosting people since we moved - nerve wracking but great progress in the whole "get to know new people" area.

School Holiday, Brown Day and the 6th green star in a row!!

Christopher Columbus day was a school holiday so Mia and I took full advantage of an extra day together.  We window shopped, walked around the mall, went to lunch with Ben, colored, had a princess and queen party with some of her favorite lovies and treated ourselves to slushies at sonic.  It was a glorious day!

Today was brown day at school.  Mia wasn't all that happy as "brown is a boy color" but she got over it with this new dress I made her.    She did, however, come home with her sash tied around her waist ninja style - note to self big bow sashes are not school friendly. Today she brought home her 6th green star in a row...I've got to think of something pretty awesome for if she goes 2 weeks with all green stars.

A week full of green stars, Midway Day and Purple show and tell!!!

My little bit earned a green star every day this week!!!  We are so very proud of her!

When Ben left for San Diego Mia asked him to bring her back a purple seal - he brought home the closest thing he could find - a dolphin in a purple sweatshirt.  :D  Of course she loves it and couldn't wait to take it to show and tell - lucky for her this week was the color purple!

Green Star on Purple Day!!!

Green stars two days in a row and third one this month.  Love how this month is going!

(The skirt is a new pattern I had the privilege of testing for a kid's clothes designer.  Love it!)

Boys are vampires!

...or so said my child.
(edited from yesterday as I just put a piece in but then realized the whole story made more sense)

M:  Momma! Did you know boys are vampires?
Me: Really?
M: Hahaha! Not really, momma, just on the playground.  We play that the boys are vampires and they chase us girls.  Except for one boy and he saves the girls.  Today that was J. I like J.  He's nice and he saved me.
Me: *insert a little talk about how girls don't have to have boys to save them and how she is a strong and smart person all on her own*
M: Oh, I know that, Momma!  But he really wanted to save us and I didn't want to hurt his feelings so I let him.

Orange Show and Tell!

**********************************************

Mia and I finally found some ice cream in town that she can eat!!!  Our favorite grocery store carries coconut  milk yogurt but not the ice cream so we decided to check Wal-Mart and they had it!
Definitely made for one happy little girl!!!

**********************************************

Ben is back from San Diego.  He sent us some lovely pics and brought Mia back some sea shells.  His trip went great up until he missed his flight out of Dallas.  That airport is a monster to get thru.

**********************************************

I got a TON of sewing done for Mia while he was away.  The fall dress with the brown bodice is my absolute favorite.  She's also covered for all the color specific days at school for this month except for one.

Can't get enough of new...

Ha!  Actually, I'm not gonna lie, I can definitely get enough of it.  But it's all good.  Ben is off to San Diego for work.  Business trips have always been stressful to me but especially this time.  New place, new town, new people, far from family.  You don't realize just how much comfort can be derived from something as simple as the normal creaks of your house until it's gone.  I'm a big girl tho.  Mia and I are going to have a blast.  I'm burying my anxiety in productivity.  Just today I've put up what feels like a thousand new listings in my etsy shop.  All in all I am super thankful for Ben's job and his opportunity to visit somewhere he's never been before.  And for the girl time with Mia which I guarantee you will be filled with coloring, girly movies (albeit disneys) and simple food (tonight we had fishsticks LOL).  Life is good.  I do my best to never forget that.

Orange Day

Mia was a bit camera shy this morning.  I can't really blame her tho - it was still rather dark and uber foggy - aka perfect weather to be asleep in.

Ben went and had lunch with Mia today and her teacher told him that she couldn't wait to see what Mia would be wearing each day and loved that Mia bragged that her "mommy made it".  #heartmelting
