Kindergarten Field Day!!!!!
(Yes, she does have shorts on her shirt is just way too big.
I didn't know what all they would be doing so I didn't tie it back like it usually do.)
Field Day was too cute!  Unfortunately my camera battery died after the first race, but my good friend (and fellow room mom) has promised to share her pictures!  The kiddos ran the same relay a dozen different ways.  It was too cute - they ran with a pool noodle on their head pretending to be a mosquito, ran with several huge inflatable balls (the football was literally the same size as Mia), and even had a squid on their head at one point.

(No - it wasn't 80s day at school but boy oh boy would this outfit have worked if it was!)

Woodway Morning Announcements
Because of my work on the Grants Committee with PTA Mia got to help with
announcements at school announcing a couple of the grant winners!

It's hard to believe that Kindergarten is over in about a week and a half.  Graduation is June 6th as is their music program.  I'll take lots of pictures - between dabbing tears, I'm sure!  We have had such a wonderful kindergarten year and definitely look forward to first grade!

Not school related:
TBall has already wrapped up for the season.  You know the saying about first kids get all the pics and second kid ends up with little to none?  Well - ummm... that's the perfect description for second season of Tball.  Oops!
This season she caught her first ball during a game and made several outs.  Not to mention hitting the ball all the way to outfield.  Mia had fun and wants to continue playing so we are moving on up to Coach Pitch.  The summer season starts next week and will run until right before school starts.  I think she will enjoy the challenge but we shall see.  :)

I can't believe how much she has changed since summer ball last year.  The pictures are just way too cute!

A trip to Alabama, Mia's 5th birthday and the last T-Ball game

Mia and I just got back last week from spending a week in Alabama.  It was a whirlwind week as we tried to fit in plans with everyone possible.  It was crazy busy but definitely fun!

Mia turned 5!  We celebrated with all of our family in Alabama and then she and Ben and I had a "just us" celebration on her actual birthday complete with a trip to Sea World!!!  Generally we get her a membership to something for her birthday but with school starting we decided we would take a family trip to Sea World in San Antonio instead.  We had an absolute blast!!! We were at the park from 10 that morning until they closed at 9.  Unfortunately my phone decided to act up and killed my battery by about noon so there are very few pictures of the day.

The last t-ball game was last night along with a pizza party.  Mia was sooo super excited about her medal!  It reminded me that I had found my medal from t-ball when we were packing the house but I can't remember what I did with it.  I'm going to try and find it so I can show her.

Life is still going well.  We are meeting new friends and finding our way around.  We are all adjusting to the tiny space that is the apartment.  It doesn't seem too bad until I start sewing or Ben is working on his current project but we are all making the best of it.

Ben's job has gotten pretty crazy the last two weeks, but hopefully they will find a balance soon.

Mia starts school in 11 days!!!!

Sewing Frenzy

Our first 4th of July in Texas was pretty low key.  We decided against attending the fireworks show because it wasn't supposed to start until 10 pm so we played at a splash pad and just chilled.  I have to admit I *loved* that no one shot off fireworks around us.  This is the first year since Mia was born that we haven't had to deal with obnoxious "shows" all night long which led to an extremely grumpy baby and parents.

We definitely made the most of Ben being off for 4 days in a row over the holiday.  That Friday we went and got our cars inspected, registered, licensed and our Texas driver's licenses.  It was pretty much an all day affair because there are so many steps and none of them are in the same department.  We were pleasantly surprised at how efficient each office was run ... and the employees were super friendly and helpful.

We also visited Austin and went to the Austin Zoo.  It's a small zoo but has lots of interesting animals - all of which were rescue animals.  It reminded me a lot of the Chattanooga Zoo.  Definitely worth the drive and going again.

We've had another play date with some of the tball friends and are planning another one for next week.  We also had dinner with a friend of a friend that was super fun! I'm excited to get to know E more.  We ate at the local cajun restaurant and it was delicious and right on the river.

Mia starts school next month so I've been sewing a ton.  So far I've made her 3 pairs of ruffle pants, 3 dresses and 1 skirt (plus I have material for 2 more skirts and have 1 more pair of pants cut just waiting to be sewn).  It has been so much fun.

We head to Alabama for a visit on Thursday and are all super excited!  It will be so nice to see family and catch up with friends.

First T-ball game

I'm pretty sure it should just be called "death by cuteness".  There have been two tball games so far and oh my goodness they were beyond adorable.  Between our kiddos being turned into little bobble heads because of the huge helmets to half the team running after the ball when it was there turn on the field we were in stitches the entire time.
