(Eye is no longer a big deal - she was too excited about her boots)

Turns out park vehicles are dangerous too.  While walking through a parking lot towards our favorite restaurant last Wednesday Mia walked smack into the metal bumper of a parked truck (yes - the whole "everything is bigger in Texas"  definitely applies to the trucks here! LOL).   There is an urgent care in the same shopping center as the restaurant we were heading too so we ran in there and they took fantastic care of her! She hit right below her eye and it gashed pretty good but thankfully was 1 centimeter short of having to have stitches so they glued her up (they even had purple glue!) and sent us on our way.  Mia was definitely a little trooper.  Once she got cleaned up (I think all the blood freaked her out the most) and we joked around a bit she was fine.  In fact she insisted we still get dinner.  LOL  It's healing up really nicely with hardly any bruising at all.  There will probably be a little scar but we won't know anything else until the glue flakes off which can take over a week.

Mia is getting green stars more often then not now so we've switched from yogurt as a reward to earning points for each one.  We ended up going for yogurt every school day of December which was a bit much!  LOL  We are super proud of how well she is doing in school.

We checked out another state park on Saturday (last weekend was Mother Neff State Park this weekend was Meridian State Park).  It was gorgeous and definitely made the "we should camp here" list.  We hiked one of the smaller trails and then sat by the lake for a while.  All the pictures I have taken the last two weekends have been on film so hopefully I'll get that sent off to be developed soon so I can share the beauty.

School Holiday, Brown Day and the 6th green star in a row!!

Christopher Columbus day was a school holiday so Mia and I took full advantage of an extra day together.  We window shopped, walked around the mall, went to lunch with Ben, colored, had a princess and queen party with some of her favorite lovies and treated ourselves to slushies at sonic.  It was a glorious day!

Today was brown day at school.  Mia wasn't all that happy as "brown is a boy color" but she got over it with this new dress I made her.    She did, however, come home with her sash tied around her waist ninja style - note to self big bow sashes are not school friendly. Today she brought home her 6th green star in a row...I've got to think of something pretty awesome for if she goes 2 weeks with all green stars.

Tears, Super Kid and 4 Green Stars in a row!

The streak continues!  Plus Mia got named Super Kid today!  As unhappy as she was about going to school this morning she had cheered up by the time she arrived and was excited to get to walk in with a friend.

A green star on yellow day...

Each Tuesday the Kindergartners are encouraged to wear a specific color (i.e. the color of the week) and this week it was yellow.  Just so happened that one of the pairs of pants I made over the summer incorporated a lot of yellow and I had found an adorable yellow shirt to match (that in and of itself was quite a find as I have trouble finding feminine shirts that are primary colors unless they have a character of some sort on them - but that's a soap box for another time).

When Mia got in the car this afternoon she said "Momma! I worked really hard today and I didn't get in trouble one TIME!" I congratulated her and we talked more about her day as we headed off to run errands.  When we got to our first stop she insisted that I look in her folder before we went in.  I opened it and SHE HAD A GREEN STAR!!! That is the highest mark a child can get for a day and stands for exemplary behavior.  We, of course, had to go to our favorite frozen yogurt place (they carry a dairy free option) and celebrate.

This week also starts show and tell.  Whatever you bring for show and tell is supposed to be the color of the week.  I can't wait to see what Mia picks each week.

Fundraising has started as has parent brought snacks and monthly PTA meetings.   It is all a big adjustment but over all I think she is handling it really well.  She is so excited about school and has even started waking up on her own at the right time already (we'll see if that lasts tho).  :D

I've been sewing up a storm for my shop which is going to be featured on a pretty well known blog this month so I'm hoping to get a good amount of new stuff listed before then.

Life is good.
